Microsoft Ignite

The brief: In 2018, LiveTiles launched a new product, LiveTiles Bots, an AI-powered chatbot feature. With Microsoft Ignite on the horizon - the world’s largest Microsoft user conference which attracts 30,000+ attendees - LiveTiles needed a way to stand out from the crowd while creating buzz and excitement about its new product offering.

As a Global Event Marketing Manager I supported Global Event Production Lead in the development and production of a show-stopping activation at Microsoft Ignite, where LiveTiles was a Platinum sponsor. With a 30’x 30’ footprint, a $80K budget and 7 weeks lead time, we needed to leverage every resource we had. The activation needed to incorporate LiveTiles Bots messaging into an easy to digest form, increase brand recognition and generate leads. We worked with the LiveTiles’Creative Director to come up with the idea creating an animated character to represent LiveTiles Bots, “Zed”. Animated videos would surround a 20-foot robot, which would form the centerpiece of our display. There was also a social media-driven promotion to win one of five 3D printers.

The result: The live launch of LiveTiles Bots at Microsoft Ignite was spectacular — the activation was hugely popular, with consumers lining up to interact with the giant bot, and to enter the promotion to win a 3D printer, and social media lit up with positive feedback. As a result of the activation, LiveTiles generated 2000+ new leads, which resulted in $2M of new business.
